Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “-WINCHESTER MODEL 70 375 H&H MAG.- / —MADE IN NEW HAVEN. CT U.S.A.—“, the rear has an ovalled “WP” proof. The right side of the barrel is marked “-CLASSIC STAINLESS-”. The left of the receiver is marked “WINCHESTER / –TRADE MARK–“. The right of the chamber ring is marked with the serial number and the bolt is matched and marked with the last four digits of the serial number.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade dovetailed to a finely checkered ramped riser that is screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is a flip-up semi-buckhorn with an elevation adjustable U-notch leaf set in a windage adjustable base. Attached to the top of the receiver via two rings is a Nikon scope with a fixed duplex reticle and a duplex reticle. The scope shows very little in the way of wear and the lenses are clear. There is some dark adhesive under the rings. The scope rates in about Fine-Plus condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The one-piece checkered synthetic stock features a pistol grip, straight comb, sling studs front and rear, and a solid black rubber Decelerator buttpad. There are a couple scattered light rubs and handling marks and faint lines. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 5/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The pad shows minor wear. Overall, the stock is in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp, deep rifling. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are a few light marks on the bottom metal and floorplate. There is light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is a safety mounted on the rear of the bolt. Pulled to the rear, the safety is ON, locking both the bolt and the trigger. If pulled back half-way, it blocks only the trigger. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 70 is an iconic American sporting rifle which has been a staple of hunters for more than 80 years. This example is a Classic Stainless model with a composite stock. The rifle appears to have spent more time in the safe than out, in Fine-Excellent condition with only some light wear.
