Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN UTAH & MONTREAL P. Q.” and “MADE IN JAPAN”. The right side of the barrel is marked “CALIBER .22 LONG RIFLE / BROWNING PATENTS”. The lower right side of the receiver is marked with the serial number, “05547PP646”. The receiver features fine floriate engraving on the sides and top with animals inset in gold.

Sights/Optics: The front sight is a gold beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a flip-up u-notch adjustable for elevation dovetailed into the barrel.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The stocks are two-piece wood with checkered semi-pistol grip and beavertail forend, fluted straight comb, and serrated sheet steel buttplate. The buttstock shows a few light compressions on the right side and a few more notable drag lines on the left. The forend shows scattered light nicks and a few compressions. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP is 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate, which shows only minor handling marks. Overall, the stocks rate in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are light handling marks, but otherwise free of any notable wear or damage. The screws show minor tool marks with strong slots, and all markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine-plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is no play in the barrel to the receiver when assembled. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork and Accessories: This rifle includes a serial-matching Browning factory cardboard box. The box shows moderate wear from storage and handling with several areas on the top showing indents and one area that is torn. Overall, the box rates in Good condition.
Our Assessment: On offer here is a Grade six, Japanese made Browning 22 semi-automatic rifle with stock-mounted tubular magazine, two-piece takedown-style construction, and beautiful fine floriate engraving. This example is in Fine-plus condition with very little wear, a clean, bright bore, and a tight lock-up. 22 collector’s will be pleased to add this rifle to their collection.
