Markings: The left barrel is marked “HARTFORD MODEL 1878 *JIC . PRC* / EMF CO . INC . SA . CA . USA”. The right barrel is marked “12 GAUGE 3 IN”. The water table is marked with the serial number, “P-00053” and “MADE IN P. R. C.”. The left and right sides of the receiver are marked “Hartford Model 1878” in cursive script.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth wood with splinter forend, fluted straight comb, pistol grip and sheet steel buttpalte. There are light handling marks, but otherwise the stocks are free of any notable wear or damage. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 1/2″ and 13 3/4″ from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the buttplate. The buttplate shows minor surface oxidation at the heel. Overall, the stocks rate in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright and there is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its metal finish.The barrels show a few scattered light nicks and two spots of finish loss most notable on the right side. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Very Good-to-Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrels lock up with no play to the receiver. The triggers are crisp. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
