Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SAKO CAL. .25-06 REM. MADE IN FINLAND” next to a factory marking. The left side of the receiver is marked “SAKO AV 595311” and with a factory marking. The bottom of the bolt handle is hand scribed “311”. The bottom of the barrel is marked “IMP’D BY STOEGER INC. N”.

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver has a male dovetail for mounting a scope (none included).

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is checkered wood and features a pistol grip with a right palm swell, monte carlo comb, cheek piece, and a red Sako buttpad. There are hardly any imperfections except for some areas of the finish that have lost their gloss, notably on the cheek piece and around the grip. There are a few minor handling marks as well. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. The LOP measures 14” and 13 1/4” from the trigger to the rubber buttpad and wood, respectively. The buttpad shows minor rub wear discoloration. The stock rates in about Fine-Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are maybe just a couple hardly notable marks scattered on the barrel. There is faint operational wear. The screw heads show light use with strong slots. The markings are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine-Excellent overall condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is light and crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: Sako hit the civilian market in the 1940’s making some of the world’s finest and most accurate rifles. They were so good that they became a part of the Beretta group. This AV is no exception. The bore is bright with beautiful rifling and the trigger is light as a feather. Please see our photos and good luck!
