Markings: The left shoulder of the barrel is marked “THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. ILION, NY, U.S.A. / * * * * MOD. 1895CB CAL. 45/70 GOVT. * * * *” and is also marked with an “A” within a triangle and “PL”. The right shoulder of the barrel is marked with Marlin’s two-lined warning and “REP” within an oval. The left side of the receiver is marked with a QR code and the serial number.

Barrel Length: 18.5″, Octagonal

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a tall beaded blade that is dovetailed to the top of the receiver. The rear sight is a buckhorn elevator sight with a U-notched leaf is dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped in four places for mounting a scope.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth walnut with a straight grip, straight comb, checkered black hard rubber Marlin buttplate, and Marlin “bullseye” in the belly. There are some infrequent minor draglines and compressions. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate shows hardly any wear and has sharp checkering. Overall, the stocks are in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a couple of minor light scratches on the end of the magazine tube. There are just a few fine marks scattered about the receiver and barrel that are hardly worth mentioning. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly and smoothly. The lever safety is present and functions properly. The receiver also contains a push safety that blocks the hammer from hitting the pin. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
