Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”. The rear face of the cylinder is marked with the serial number. The crane cut is marked “M61896 / 7”. The interior of the ejector rod shroud is marked with the serial number. The butt of the grip frame is marked with the serial number. The crane is marked “61896”. The sideplate is marked with the S&W monogram logo and the right of the frame is marked with the four-line marcas registradas. The right of the barrel is marked “44 MAGNUM”. The front face of the ejector is marked with the serial number with no letter prefix.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a ramped blade with a red insert, it is set on a serrated ramped base integral to the serrated rib. The front and rear of the red insert present a hairline gap. The rear sight is an S&W micrometer click white outline square notch adjustable for windage and elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The included grip is a black rubber Hogue Monogrip with finger grooves and their pebble texture. There are some scuffs and mars on the smooth portions, most noticeable on the right side by the logo. The texturing has light rub wear but has remiained strong. There is no mounting hardware included. The grip rates in about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. There are a few light draglines and scuffs, some of the most noticeable are on the sides of the barrel at the muzzle. There are some little dings into the finish, some of the most noticeable are on the trigger guard and on the side plate. The marks on the side plate will likely be hidden by grips. The front and rear of the red front sight insert present a hairline gap. The butt of the grip frame has a few little spots of frost. The cylinder has a faint turn line. The screw heads are slightly disfigured, but overall excellent and all heads are serviceable. The markings are clear and sharp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The single-action trigger is crisp and the double-action smooth. The cylinder lockup has very little side-to-side play and no front-to-rear play on all six chambers. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a Bianchi #111 Cyclone tan leather holster. The holster displays some scuffs, light creases, and a few spots of light discoloration. The stitching is intact and the holster rates in about Fine condition.
