Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “Shiloh-Sharps Model 1874” in front of the rear sight, behind the rear sight is marked “CALIBRE 50 / 1 3/4”, the bottom (under the forend) is marked with the serial number and “50 70”. The left of the receiver is marked “SHILOH RIFLE MFG. CO. / BIG TIMBER, MONTANA”, the top is marked with the serial number behind the loading groove. The rear sight base is marked “SHILOH SHARPS”.

Barrel Length: 28″, Half-Octagonal Half-Round

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade in a slotted base dovetailed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch buckhorn sight which can be folded up to present a ladder with a notched slider. The top tang is drilled and tapped with a folding aperture sight installed, adjustable for windage and elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece walnut with a pewter nosecap, straight grip, straight comb and checkered case color steel shotgun-style buttplate. The bottom tang has had a curved handstop installed behind the lever. The stocks have a few light marks, most notable are scratches in the belly. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14″ and 13 1/8″ from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the buttplate. The plate has minor wear with well defined checkering. Overall, the stocks are in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is minor operational wear. The left shoulder of the barrel has some scuffing above the front of the forend. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock position. The lever locks up tight. The trigger is light and crisp when set. When not set, it is heavier, but still crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
