The stock and sights are described below.

Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches

Sights / Optics: 
RIFLE 1: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice. The elevation knob is marked “UP arrow DOWN arrow”, “BATTLE triangle RANGE”, and from “2-12” in increments of 2 on the edge.
An M1C scope base is attached to the left side of the receiver by three screws and two pins. The screw heads show use and the scope base shows scuffs & small scrapes. The scope base is in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition.
RIFLE 2: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice. The elevation knob is marked “UP arrow DOWN arrow”, “BATTLE triangle RANGE”, and from “2-12” in increments of 2 on the edge.
An M1C scope base is attached to the left side of the receiver by three screws and two pins. The top of the scope base has oxidation showing through the new finish. The screw heads show use and the scope base shows scuffs & a few small scrapes. The scope base is in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition.

Stock Configuration & Condition: 
RIFLE 1: The face of the pistol grip is marked with a “circled P” proof. The bottom of the grip is marked with a small “crossed cannons” stamping. The left side of the stock, above the trigger, is marked with a “boxed” Springfield Armory Arsenal Rebuild cartouche containing “S.A. / G.A.W.” (page 134). This is next to an Ordnance Department “crossed cannons” cartouche.
The three piece stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, stacking loop, 2 sling loops, and a metal buttplate with a hinged door for storage in the butt. The refinished buttplate has scratches and surface erosion showing through the new finish. It also shows scrapes. The top front of the rear handguard shows a hairline surface crack. The wood shows numerous scrapes, scratches & compression marks. Several have damaged or removed small portions of surface wood. These marks have been oiled over. The LOP measures 13 ? inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.
RIFLE 2: The face of the pistol grip is marked with a faded “circled P” proof. The left side of the stock, above the trigger, is marked with a “boxed” Springfield Armory Arsenal Rebuild cartouche containing “S.A. / G.A.W.” (page 134). This is next to an Ordnance Department “crossed cannons” cartouche.
The three piece stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, stacking loop, 2 sling loops, and a metal buttplate with a hinged door for storage in the butt. The edge chechering on the buttplate is worn. The buttplate shows several scrapes & scratches. The wood shows several scrapes, scratches & compression marks. Many are deep and have damaged small portions of surface wood. These marks have been oiled over. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: 
RIFLE 1: The lands are bright, the grooves are semi bright, and the rifling is deep. There is some fouling in the grooves near the muzzle that should clean up. There is no visible erosion. The bore shows an M.E. of 0.3. The throat shows a T.E. of 1.

Overall Condition: 
RIFLE 1: This rifle retains about 94% of its metal finish. Pin prick surface erosion shows through the new finish on the bottom edge of the receiver. The receiver legs and bottom edge of the receiver show areas of thinning. The right side of the receiver and front of the bolt show thinning consistent with cycling. The metal shows scrapes, scuffs, and small scratches. The markings are clear; most are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition.
RIFLE 2: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. Pin prick surface erosion shows through the new finish on the bottom edge of the receiver and where the left receiver leg meets the bottom edge of the receiver. The receiver legs and bottom edge of the receiver show areas of thinning. The right side of the receiver shows thinning consistent with cycling. The metal shows scuffs, scrapes, and light thinning on the leading edges of the metal. The markings are clear & deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus to Fine condition.

Mechanics: The actions on each rifle function correctly. We did not fire these rifles. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Each rifle comes with an M1C scope base attached; see above.
The rifles each come in their original shipping boxes from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) in Anniston, AL. One end of each box has a sticker on it listing the point of origin. The boxes are taped together. They show discoloration, tape residue and permanent ink listing the contents. The boxes protect the CMP cases held inside. They are in about Very Good condition.
The rifles each come in separate green hard plastic cases that are marked on both sides with “stars & stripes”, “CMP / www.theCMP.org”, the CMP seal “stars / eagle holding arrows”, and with other information. The interior of each case has foam pieces that show small tears, compression, and light soiling from use. The cases each have 4 latches and 3 reinforced locking holes. The cases show scuffs, scrapes and a few small areas of discoloration. The cases are each in about Fine condition.
The rifles each come with a Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Certificate of Authenticity. They are marked with the consignor’s name, the rifle’s serial number and with CMP logos. Most importantly, the certificates are marked “Model: M1C Garand”. The certificates each show light creasing and are in Fine Plus condition. The rifles each come with an owners manual. The first is in Excellent condition. The second rifle’s manual shows light discoloration and oil residue on the cover. It is in about Very Good Plus condition.

Our Assessment: This is a Rare lot of 2 M1C Garand Sniper Rifles with consecutive serial numbers. These M1C Garands were purchased through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). They each come with a CMP Certificate that lists each rifle as a “M1C Garand” and in a CMP hard case. Each rifle has an M1C scope base attached to the receiver.
