Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “The Marlin Firearms Corporation / <- NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. – PATENTED ->”. The left shoulder of the chamber is marked “<- .22 S L & LR ->”. The top tang is marked “Marlin / MOD. 39” followed by a star. The bottom tang is marked with the serial number. The barreled portion of the receiver is matched and marked “726” on the inside.

Barrel Length: 24”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set in a slotted base dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an elevator sight with a small “V” notch at the bottom of a semi-circle. The top of the receiver has one drilled, tapped, and filled hole. The top tang has a pair of drilled, tapped, and filled holes.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth wood with a pistol grip, straight comb, Marlin “bullseye”, metal nose cap, and checkered black hard rubber buttplate. The stocks show some light compressions, a few dings, and some spots of thinned finish. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures approximately 13 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has strong lettering and checkering with a few dings and little scratches. The stocks rate in Fine condition.

Type of Finish: Case Hardened Receiver & Lever with Blued Barrel

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp ballard rifling. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The receiver has some light thinning but the case color is mainly strong and attractive. The receiver has a few fine small scratches and rubs. The lever has operational thinning and there are some small spots of light discoloration from previous oxidation. The bolt has a small ding through the finish. The barrel has some thinning of edges. There are some scattered dings and small light scratches on the barrel. The barrel has some mottled thinning. The mag tube has wear consistent with the barrel plus a little scab about 5” from the front and a few spots of light oxidation. The wide semi-circle of the rear sight has some fresh metal that is exposed on the top. The markings are crisp, the screw heads are sharp to lightly worn with strong slots. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety position. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
