Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are 2-piece smooth walnut with banded forend, straight grip, straight comb, and serrated steel buttplate. There is a hole in the belly for a sling stud which is not present and a small loss at the front edge of the hole. The stocks have some scattered nicks, dings, scuffs and scratches with a bruise at the bottom-rear of the forend and a vertical compression on the right of the buttstock behind the wrist. There is a tiny loss at the top-front corner of the wrist on the left. There are no cracks. The LOP measures 13″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has some scattered nicks, dings and scratches with minor erosion under the finish and generally sharp serrations. The wood doesn’t appear to have seen much, if any sanding, but the original finish has likely been stripped and re-oiled. Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good condition as refinished.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Refinished
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is infrequent minor erosion in the bore, most toward the muzzle-end. Our gauge reads an ME of 0.5.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 94% of its current metal finish. The finish is thinning at some edges, most notable at the leading edges of the barrel and magazine tube. There are spots of finish wear on each side of the front barrel band. There is a patch of finish wear on the right of the barrel in front of the forend. Otherwise, the finish is generally strong. There is scattered minor erosion under the finish, mostly in the receiver. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear and surprisingly deep, but have soft edges. Overall, this rifle is in about Very Good-Fine condition as refinished.
Mechanics: The lever safety has a tendency to catch on the inside edge of the tang when the lever is closed, not falling back into place properly. Otherwise, the action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
