Markings: The barrel is marked “barrel by SHILEN 222 Rem.”. The left side of the receiver is marked “AI 171868” with two proof marks.

Barrel Length: 24″, not original to the rifle

Sights / Optics: There is no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is mounted with Redfield bases with Leupold twist off style scope rings.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The one piece high polished wood stock has checkering on the forend and pistol grip. The checking is sharp with a couple of light compressed checkers. The smooth surfaces show a few light draglines and scratches. We believe that the wood stock is not original to the rifle.

Type of Finish: Blue & Stainless

Finish Originality: Refinished

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The stainless barrel shows light handling and storage marks. The blued surface shows a few light scattered drag marks. The barrel is not original to this frame and it appears that the frame has been refinished when the gun was built. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine to Fine-Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is a nice light pull with a push thumb safety that functions properly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
