Markings: The top of the barrel is marked with Swedish proof marks, “WS”, “AIG”, “H” The tang, barrel,lockplate, stock and buttcap are all serial marked “836”, The stock and lockplate are marked “1856” and “H”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass blade affixed at the muzzle. There is a raised flat projection in the space for a rear sight, but it is not cut for a sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one-piece walnut with a broadly checkered grip, The backstrap runs the length of the grip and has a keyhole fitting for the shoulder stock (not included). The nosecap, of pinned brass is smoothly attached to the stock. The trigger guard and massive buttcap with a lanyard ring are also brass. The sideplate is also brass All brass has a medium patina. The stock has normal handling wear, which for a military pistol is minimal. There are small dings, but no cracks or chips. Overall, the stock is in about Very Good condition as Antique.

Bore Condition: The bore is smooth and shows mild corrosion.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 75% of its metal finish. The barrel has a light scrape from the muzzle backward and small scabs Otherwise, there are only handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about very good plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety position.The trigger is crisp with a typical military pull. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be required to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a rarely seen Swedish Model 1850 military pistol/carbine. The stock and finish are in very good shape. The grained walnut stock is oil finished and the metal parts are browned. The lock is in the white. Though a detachable buttstock is not included, this pistol will still be a great addition for any black powder or military enthusiast.
