Our Assessment: This is a Springfield Armory 1911 Operator pistol in .45 that boasts a host of additional features over its original 100-year-old design. It is not your run of the mill 1911. The gun has a full-length accessory rail that not only has function, but form. The additional weight on the front of the frame will help keep the muzzle down and allow for faster follow-up shots. More weight is also out front because of the pistol’s bushingless bull barrel. The slide locks up directly on the barrel giving greater consistency and accuracy. Adjustable night sights from Trijicon round out the accurizing features. The frame and mainspring housing are aggressively stippled and the grips aggressively textured to give a firm purchase and the extended beavertail grip safety protects the hand from the skeletonized hammer and positively disengages when gripped. The beveled magazine well assists in rapidly reloading and the ambidextrous safety allows easy and safe use with either hand. This pistol doesn’t know if it wants to be a tactical gun or a target gun so it decided to be both and it does both very well. This would make an excellent addition to any collection and comes with just about everything it would have brand new. Please see our photos and good luck!
