Our Assessment: For more than a century, Marlin’s 1894 has served as a popular pistol-caliber lever-action rifle. The design is still in production today and finds favor with both hunters and Cowboy Action Shooting competitors. This example is a Model 1894CBC Cowboy Competition made with a 20” octagonal barrel and chambered for .38 Special and a tube for 10 rounds. The rifle is in about Fine Plus-Excellent condition with most of its metal finish remaining and light wear in the stocks. This rifle comes factory tuned and upon picking it up and feeling how silky smooth and slick it is, I wouldn’t have guessed it was a factory action job. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. With its smooth lever action, used with .38 Special cartridges it is perfect for Cowboy Action Shooting or informal target practice. Lever action rifles are some of the most fun and will never lose their charm, this one is in nice condition making it a great “used” option. Please see our photos and good luck!
