Markings: The bottom of the barrel set is marked “dp” in oval, “PEDERSOLI – ITALY KODIAK / BLACK POWDER ONLY CAL. 58” with the serial number, and “58” on each barrel. The side of each barrel has “BP” in square date code and Italian proof marks. The lockplates have foliate engraving with Kodiak bear scenes.
Barrel Length: 28 1/2″
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated, ramped base screwed to the front of the barrel rib. The rear sights are folding “U”-notch sights dovetailed to a base screwed to the rear of the rib. The rear sights are fine-adjustable for elevation with white triangle aiming references.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut with case-color nosecap incorporating the rear ramrod ferrule, case color wedge escutcheons, pistol grip, straight comb, steel buttplate, and sling stud in the belly (the other stud is integral to the middle ferrule). The stock has minor handling wear with only a few scattered light marks. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is well defined. The LOP measures 14 3/8″ and 13 5/8″ from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the buttplate. The plate has some scattered minor wear. Overall, the stock is in about Fine-plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is some minor erosion toward the muzzles, much of which may prove to be stubborn fouling that will come out with a patient cleaning.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is only minor operational wear and light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions properly. Each hammer has a half-cock safety notch. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: There is a brass-tipped wooden ramrod stored under the barrel.
Our Assessment: This is a beautiful modern-made muzzle-loading double rifle from Pedersoli. The name Kodiak is appropriate as this .58 Caliber rifle would be suitable for hunting bear during muzzle loading season, and with full loads, it’s gonna be a bear to shoot! The rifle is in about Excellent condition, showing little sign of use. It’s beautiful styling and great condition will make for a great gun for hunting or to add to a percussion collection.
