Markings: The left of the slide is marked “DETONICS USA / MODEL 9-11-01”. The right of the frame is marked “DETONNICS USA PENDERGRASS, GA / USA1083”. The top of the barrel at the chamber is marked “45 ACP”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed and screw-set to the rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered rosewood double-diamond panels with Detonics USA logos engraved on smooth circles in their centers. The grips show no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The action shows minor operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide has little play to the frame. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The pistol comes in a black plastic Detonics USA case with serial-matching label, a total of three Metal-Form 7-round magazines, a small-diameter recoil spring to nest inside the standard recoil spring for use with stronger loads, a tube of Militec-1 metal conditioner and an assortment of factory paperwork including manual. The case shows minor storage wear, in Fine condition. The accessories are in Excellent condition with the magazines still having their warning stickers applied.
Our Assessment: Detonics was an early producer of compact 1911-style pistols, similar to the Officer’s model, and is perhaps best known for their compact, concealed carry pistols. They developed several other handgun models, and while their quality was always considered quite high, so were their prices. In 1988, the company was sold and proceeded to go through a number of owners until becoming Detonics USA in Pendergrass, Georgia in 2004. Though they would ultimately close their doors in mid-2007, Detonics USA also was known for producing high-quality 1911-style pistols and this is one such example. The 9-11-01 has a number of Detonics features including a relief at the top-rear of the slide to make it easier to manually cock the hammer, bushingless bull barrel, and full-length guide rod. This example appears to have seen little if any use since leaving the factory and appears to come with everything it did brand-new.
