Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “MODEL 37-FEATHERLIGHT-12 GA-2 3/4 CHAMBER-PROOF TESTED / ITHACA GUN CO., INC., ITHACA, N.Y. – MADE IN U.S.A.-ROTO” with an anvil “FORGED / CYL”. The right-bottom-rear of the receiver is marked with the serial number. The right of the receiver and the right of the barrel are marked with an anvil proof.

Choke: Cylinder Bore, Fixed

Sights / Optics: There is a red-orange fiber-optic insert in a base at the muzzle. The top of the receiver has a serrated flat for a sightin plante.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two piece walnut set with grooved “corn cob” slide handle, press-checkered grip with fleur di lis accents, straight comb and ventilated black rubber Pachmayr White Line recoil pad. The forend has no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The buttstock has scattered spots of thinning finish, handling wear in the grip, a few scattered light marks and some grain lines are starting to open up, most notable on the left of the wrist at the front and at the rear on the left. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 1/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad, 13 1/8″ to the back of the wood. The pad is still fairly supple with minor wear. Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good-Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. Most of the balance is in light operational wear on the magazine tube and action bar. There are a few other scattered light marks and scuffs with a more notable scrape on the right of the magazine lug. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. It will slam-fire by design. The shotgun ejects out the bottom of the receiver. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a 12 Gauge Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight from 1968. It has an 18 1/4″ cylinder bore barrel. At just under 6 1/2 lbs, this is a handy shotgun that is suitable for home defense. The shells eject out the bottom, making this a great option for right and left handed shooters. This shotgun is in about Fine condition, appearing to have had a gentle life for the last 50+ years. The mechanics are strong and the bore is bright with no erosion. With the smooth action that Ithaca pump shotguns are known for, this will make a great gun for the lucky winner whether your’e looking to add to a collection or defend hearth and home.
