Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “358 WIN” and with Ruger’s circled “PR” proof. The top of the barrel is marked with Ruger’s warning address. The left of the receiver is marked with the serial number and “RUGER M77 HAWKEYE”. The bolt body is hand-scribed “15642”. The floorplate is marked with a Ruger logo and “RUGER”.

Sights / Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. The top of the chamber ring and the rear of the receiver are milled to accept Ruger rings which are included.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one-piece checkered synthetic with capped pistol grip, straight comb, black rubber Ruger buttpad and sling studs front and rear. The stock has no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad. The pad has no notable wear. Overall, the stock is in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The receiver and bolt show minor operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is light and crisp. The safety has three positions. Forward is FIRE, all the way back is SAFE and locks the bolt, there is a middle position which is SAFE but allows the bolt to be operated. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in a white cardboard Ruger box with serial-matching label, a set of Ruger rings, lock, and an assortment of factory paperwork including manual. The box has light wear, in about Very Good condition. The accessories are in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: Based on the Mauser 98, the Ruger M77 is a tough, reliable bolt action rifle with a five round internal magazine. This particular example is a Hawkeye model in Excellent condition, exhibiting only minor operational wear, more consistent with function-checks and clearing when handled than actual firing. The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp and the rifle comes in its original box with just about everything it did brand-new, including the factory hang-tag on the trigger guard. Chambered for .358 Winchester, this rifle is suitable for just about any North American game and should be a great hunting rifle for the lucky winner. With its stainless finish and synthetic stock, it will also be more resistant to the elements if the weather doesn’t agree with your hunting schedule. Please see our photos and good luck!
