Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “PYTHON ELITE / *.357 MAGNUM *”, the right is marked “-COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.-”The left side plate has the Rampant Colt logo, the left side of the trigger guard is marked “VP” in triangle and “S”. The crane and crane cut are marked with the serial number.
Barrel Length: 6”, with full underlug and ventilated rib.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a black blade with an orange insert, pinned onto the ventilated rib. The top of the rib and frame are matte finished for glare reduction. The rear sight is a flat top, square notched and white outlined leaf in a base that is adjustable for windage and elevation; the base is pinned and slotted onto the top of the frame.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are a two piece laminate wood set with finger grooves and silver-colored Colt logo medallions; the front of the grips wrap around the front strap of the grip frame and leave the serrated back strap exposed. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only minor handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The cylinder has a faint turn line. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks with no play when the trigger is depressed. The double action trigger is smooth, the single action is crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a blue plastic Colt case with serial-matching label, an assortment of factory paperwork including manual, and a cable lock. The case shows only minor storage wear in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: The Colt Python Elite was introduced to fill a void in the market after the discontinuation of the original Python. The name is synonymous with rigid construction and captivating styling. This Elite looks to have been used seldom, if at all. The original factory hard case and factory paperwork make the package a little sweeter. Of course this a nice find for those seeking a home defense or duty carry item.
