Our Assessment: The Ruger 77/22 is a bolt-action rimfire rifle chambered for the .22 Long Rifle, .22 WMR, or .22 Hornet and is the basis for the 77/17 platform. It has a removable rotary magazine which allows the magazine to fit flush with the bottom of the stock. The 77/22 was introduced in 1983 and was based on the centerfire Model 77 Mark II. The Ruger 77/17 came out in 2002 and uses the same rotary magazine design with a short bolt stroke and three-position safety but is chambered in .17 HMR, .17 Winchester Super Magnum, .17 Hornet, and .17 Mach 2 as this one is. Unlike other models, the 77/17 does not have sights. This one was made in 2006 and looks like it hardly ever left the box. The rifle comes with a 10 round rotary magazine which sits flush in the action and is interchangeable with 10/22 magazines; odds are, you already have a 10/22, making this a nice bolt action addition to the collection. Please see our pictures and good luck!
