Markings: The left of the upper assembly is marked with a Wolf logo, “LV”, “U2002”, Austrian proofs and “ZDH”. The left of the frame is marked “A2456”, with Austrian proofs and “LDY”. The right of the upper assembly is marked “CAL. 9×19 Made in Austria”, the right of the frame is marked “J R DISTRIBUTING / SIMI VALLEY, CA”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a red fiber-optic insert screwed to a rise in the upper’s serrated rib. The rear sight is a white outlined square notch adjustable for windage and elevation dovetailed and screw-set to the rear of the upper assembly. The top of the rib is drilled and tapped to accept an optic mount (none included). Each side of the frame has six drilled and tapped holes on the sides of the dust cover, presumably also for mounting an optic (no mount included).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth walnut panels. Grip tape has been glued to the front and back straps. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Blued
Finish Originality: Original to the parts, the upper assembly does not appear to be original to the frame.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are only a few scattered minor marks and light operational wear. The screw heads are undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is light and crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: Something of an obscure pistol, the Wolf Ultramatic is an engineering marvel. With a locking bolt mechanism, fixed barrel and crisp single action trigger, the Ultramatic makes for a great target pistol. The LV model was made for target shooting and so has a long, 7 1/2″ sight radius and is rather large at about 9 1/2″ long and 6″ tall. The mass of the gun and low reciprocating mass of the bolt assembly also help to enhance accuracy and speed up follow-up shots. This example is in great shape retaining about 98% of its metal finish with a great bore and strong mechanics. If you can find a magazine for it, it should make for a great shooter. It would also serve as a great conversation piece as they are quite rare and certainly unique in design. Please see our photos and good luck!
