Our Assessment: This carbine was originally sold through the Cabela’s store in Idaho. It makes sense that somebody living in the weather (and hunting) conditions of that area would like to have a lever gun like this one. With its laminated wood stocks and stainless steel construction this is a great wet and cold weather choice. It comes from the factory set up with an XS ghost ring rear sight and high visibility front sight. The Picatinny XS rail accepts a scope mounted in either the traditional place above the receiver or the forward Scout style location. The short barreled action should carry and handle well in the woods and Marlin suggests that the large lever loop works well with cold weather gloves. Loaded with some of the new Hornady LEVERevolution ammunition you can expect faster and flatter shooting ballistics than the old rainbow trajectory of traditional 45-70 Government cartridges. Win this auction and fill your freezer with the game you harvest.
