Year of Manufacture: Circa 1916
Caliber: 9mm
Markings: The front and back surfaces are marked “142319”, and “B / N”, which is Bing of Nuremburg. The back of the drum is marked “12 17 22 27 32”. The vertical portion of the magazine has an unreadable proof about one inch down on the left side. It appears to be a crown over several letters.

Finish Originality: All Original
Overall Condition: This snail drum retains about 90% of its metal finish. There is just light beginning surface erosion mostly found on the “winder” side of the drum. The back side shows some scratches. There is finish wear on the rounded front edge of the magazine. The Screw heads are sharp and not disfigured. The markings are clear. Overall, this drum rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The springs are strong.

Our Assessment: This is an original WWI snail drum. It is in excellent condition complete with its dust cover. This is a rare find and especially in this condition. It will fit any P08 luger but was designed to complement the wood stocked 9mm carbine of the artillery type Lugers. This one is excellent!
