Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “Colt New Frontier S.A.A. .357 Magnum”. The left side of the frame is marked “Pat. Sept. 19, 1871 / July 2,72 Jan. 19,75” and with the Rampant Colt logo. The underside of the frame is marked “5636NF”. The front face of the cylinder is marked “M636”. The rear face is marked with the Rampant colt logo. The left side of the trigger guard is marked “V” and the right “K”.

Sights / Optics: This revolver is mounted with a flat topped square notched rear sight adjustable for windage and elevation and a serrated ramp front sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are cream colored plastic with gold Rampant Colt medallions with brass grip screw. The grips show minor handling marks and the grip screw is slightly disfigured. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 95% of its metal finish. The barrel shows holster wear at the muzzle and the top of the front sight shows thinning, as does the front edge of the ejector rod housing. The cylinder shows thinning on its front edge, minor handling marks and a slight drag line. The hammer has pinprick surface erosion on both sides. The Screw heads are sharp and not disfigured. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this revolver.

Our Assessment: This is a great looking Colt 2nd Gen. single action with adjustable sights. This revolver can be used for home protection or target shooting, but would be great for Cowboy Action competition. You can always keep it in the safe like the last owner and take it out and admire it every once in awhile.
