Premier West Coast online auction house is seeking to hire a writer for our Gun Writing Department.

This is an in-house position only.

SUMMARY: The Gun Writer performs write-ups for the firearm inventory and sales for auctions under the supervision of the Gun Writer Manager. The successful individual will demonstrate strong writing, organizational, computer and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and the ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines in a timely manner. This position will also provide backup support in shipping and photography as needed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates items that will be coming up for auction with the Gun Writer Manager.
  • Researches items and collects data pertinent to the items.
  • Writes up descriptions of auction items and provides to the manager for review.
  • Responds to questions regarding items and communicates with consignors as needed.
  • Takes photographs of firearms in a fast paced environment in preparation of upcoming auctions.
  • Gathers product, sets up lighting and stages for high quality photographs.
  • Uploads photographs for auction.
  • Schedules shipments to ensure delivery by promised deadlines.
  • Ensures that merchandise is sent by the appropriate vendor and sent to the correct firearms dealer.
  • Receives orders and assigns shipments to appropriate carriers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Firearms knowledge and auction experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and with proper grammar.
  • Ability to work effectively with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, organize, handle detail, follow-through on tasks and problem solve with minimal supervision and successfully complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Able to work in a busy environment.
  • Must have respect for confidentiality; ability to work with discretion and integrity.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google WorkStation.
  • Ability to get along well with others and be a positive member of LSB.
  • Must have valid CA drivers’ license, clean DMV, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the Department of Justice.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university and 1 – 2 years of related work experience preferred but not required. A High School Diploma and/or an Associates Degree and 3 to 5 years of related work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be considered.

HOURS of EMPLOYMENT:

This is a full time position. A 40hour per week schedule will be established in consultation with the supervisor, evening and weekend hours may apply. The normal work week is Monday – Friday. Hours of work will be established between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary depends on experience. Compensation will be calculated on a 40 hour per week schedule. Hours may vary due to the needs. This position does includes vacation, sick time, health insurance benefits, holidays and a 401(k) plan.

Salary Grade: 14        Salary Scale: $21.09 – $26.36 – $31.63
