Type of Finish: “Coltguard” electroless nickel

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There apears to be light erosion at the rear of the bore, but this will likely prove to be stubborn fouling after a patient cleaning.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance is in a few scattered light marks, handling marks and a turn line on the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The chambers lock up with no play while the trigger is depressed. The double action trigger pull is smooth. The single action trigger pull is crisp and short. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes with a Colt factory letter authenticating the manufacure of the firearm. The letter is in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: In 1955, the United States launched the first nuclear powered submarine, West Germany joined NATO, and Colt began shipping the finest precision combat and target revolver ever made. Each revolver was hand-tuned at the factory and this attention to detail shows both cosmetically and in operation. With barrel lengths ranging from 2.5″, such as this example, to 8″ and with some of the finest machining and finishing ever seen in the industry, the Python has earned its reputation and continues to be sought after to this day. The Colt Python revolvers are no longer being made, so the price for these fantastic weapons are just going to continue to appreciate. This example is in good enough shape to keep in collectible condition especially with the Colt letter, 2.5″ barrel and the Coltguard finish, though it would make a fine carry or home defense revolver if one so chose. Please see our pictures and good luck!

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This handgun CANNOT be transferred as a dealer sale in California but CAN be sold as a Private Party Transfer (PPT) at our Simi Valley shop. This does not apply to out of state residents.
