Markings: The left of the barrel is marked “TROOPER MK III / * .357 MAGNUM CTG. * “, the right is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” The crane and cut should be marked with the serial number (not inspected, the gun has been tied shut to prevent turning of the cylinder). The left side plate has a Rampant Colt logo. The factory box is serialized to the revolver.
Barrel Length: 8”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramp blade, pinned onto the rib. The rear sight is a flat top, a square notched leaf in a base that is adjustable for windage and elevation.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered wood with Colt logo medallions. The stocks are free of notable marks and damages. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Factory Original
Bore Condition: The bore was not inspected due to the tie. the gun has packing grease still in protected areas. The bore likely has to have grease removed prior to firing and should be bright and sharp with no erosion present.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The cylinder has a faint drag line, likely from factory test firing and function testing. The Zip-tie and grease residue to protected areas we decided to leave, the gun is in Excellent shape to remain in storage, if you wanted to shoot it will require extensive careful cleaning. This is how it was received by our consignor and how we would like to ship it to the next owner. There are no scratches to the finish worth noting. There are a few marks on the muzzle, likely from storage. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition. Some pictures may have what appear to be a “patchy” finish, this is some of the grease on the finish, it reflects the light differently than the dry finish.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is the revolver’s serialized factory cardboard outer sleeve box, showing some roughing at the edges from storage, some tears, and a missing end flap. Also included are the two foam inner halves, showing some compression and light oil staining. some of the factory paperwork are included as photoed. The hang tag is present.
Our Assessment: A lot of guns come through this shop, but few look this good with a box as torn up as this. The box looks like it has been through a battlefield, while the gun appears lightly used and well cared for. Our guess is that when this gun was bought the excitement of the purchase was too overwhelming to contain and the box was torn open to get to the gun. The manual and paperwork removed to get a quick read. The gun with the zip tie still attached to the gun was stored, still heavily greased. We can try our best to speak of the pistol’s history, but at the end of the day, the appearance and what we are holding is all we have to go off of. The gun looks better in person than in the pictures.
