The right of the frame has a spot of surface erosion which does not immediately attract the eye, please see our pictures. The ejector rod has normal operational wear. The checkering on the hammer shows very light wear and is still crisp to the touch. The knurling on the ejector rod is sharp, as-is the checkering on the backstrap. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Fine to Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The cylinder lockup on this revolver is SOLID, with no play whatsoever. The double action trigger is VERY smooth and the single action trigger breaks cleanly and lightly. The action functions correctly. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The revolver comes in a two piece Colt factory cardboard box, the end label of the lid was left blank for the serial number and indicates a blue finish, 6″ barrel and .22 LR cartridge, which is correct, however this label is over another factory label we could not read. The box has light roughing at the edges and outer areas, the inside has mild compression from storage, rating in Fine to Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: The Colt Officer’s Model revolvers were made for competitive shooters. The hand-honed action of these revolvers helped shooters win many championships, and they are generally known to be one of the finest target revolvers ever manufactured. The action on this revolver is certainly no exception and rivals that of the Colt Python for smoothness; this pistol’s action easily beats most single action revolvers made within the last 20 years. In addition to its 6” barrel, this revolver has a rear sight adjustable for windage and elevation. This revolver is in about Excellent condition with about 95% of its original finish remaining. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. The action is smooth and the cylinder lockup is as solid as the day it left the factory. This is a very nice looking revolver, so please see our pictures. No Colt revolver collection would ever be complete without a Colt Officer’s Model in each of its variants, and it might be a very long time before anyone finds a 5th Issue in this nice of condition again.
