Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER / PROOF STEEL – MODEL 71 – WINCHESTER / -TRADE MARK-” followed by “348 W.C.F.” The right side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN, CONN.” The top of the barrel and receiver bear Winchester proof marks. The serial number “10630” is marked on the lower tang.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade dovetailed to a ramped base on the barrel. The rear sight is a factory installed peep sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle features a deluxe checkered walnut pistol grip stock with a “WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO.” embossed hard rubber grip cap and a straight comb. The forend is also deluxe checkered walnut with a steel nose cap. The wood has some minor handling marks, but no significant cracks or chips. The checkering is well-defined. The LOP measures approximately 13 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the steel buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.
Magazine Quantity & Condition: The rifle has a tubular magazine with a capacity of five rounds of .348 Winchester.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows handling wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear and legible. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
