Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NORTH HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / MOD. 1894S MICRO-GROOVE BARREL CAL. 44-40 WIN.” The right side of the barrel has a warning label. The serial number “44400773” is located on the top tang.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded blade mounted on a raised ramp. The rear sight is an adjustable semi-buckhorn leaf dovetailed to the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle features a two-piece walnut stock with a straight grip and a rubber buttpad. The forend is smooth with a steel cap. The wood shows minimal handling wear, with no major cracks, chips, or losses. The LOP measures 13 5/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore but there is stubborn fouling throughout. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows minor handling wear with light operational marks near the lever and receiver. The screw heads are sharp, and the markings are clear and crisp. There is no significant rust or corrosion present. Overall, this rifle rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
