The polymer grips and forearm show minimal wear, retaining a clean appearance. The grip safety is functional, though there is minor finish loss present. The stock rates in excellent condition, showing little to no signs of handling wear.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling, showing no signs of wear or corrosion. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains over 98% of its original finish, with minor finish loss on the magwell, grip safety, and other leading edges from storage and handling. The balance of the metal surfaces shows little to no signs of operation, indicating that this rifle was likely stored as a collector’s piece. The markings are crisp, and the screws and pins remain sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The fire control selector (FS) is present and operational, and the grip safety engages properly. The bolt cycles smoothly, and the stock deploys and locks securely. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its original factory box, manual, display barrel (installed), a 16-inch functional barrel, sling, and one 25-round magazine. The box, manual, barrel, and even the Styrofoam insert are all factory-matching with the serial number SA04388, making this a highly collectible example.

Our Assessment: The IMI UZI Model A is one of the most recognizable submachine gun variants in the world, with its civilian-legal semi-auto version being highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike. Imported before the 1989 ban, the Model A is one of the earliest and most desirable UZI semi-auto variants, featuring a 16-inch barrel and a working folding stock while retaining the iconic compact design.

The IMI UZI Model A semi-automatic rifles were produced and imported into the United States from 1980 to 1983. These were the first semi-auto UZI variants made available to the civilian market and were imported by Action Arms Ltd. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Model A was quickly followed by the Model B, which was introduced in 1983 and featured refinements such as an improved rear sight, a modified bolt system to prevent the use of full-auto parts, and relocated warning markings. Both models were discontinued in 1989 following the import restrictions under the Bush-era assault weapons ban.

This IMI UZI Model A falls within this 1980-1983 production period, making it an early and highly collectible pre-ban firearm.

This particular example is in exceptional collector’s condition, retaining over 98% of its original finish with matching serial numbers across all included components—box, manual, barrel, and even the Styrofoam insert. The bore is in pristine condition, the stock operates as intended, and the markings are crisp and clear.

For UZI collectors, military firearm enthusiasts, and pre-ban rifle investors, this number-matching, boxed IMI UZI Model A is a rare find. With minimal handling wear and all original accessories present, this rifle is a top-tier collector’s piece, perfect for display or as an investment in a legendary firearm. So bid high and bid firm.
