Our Assessment: This is a Remington Rand M1911A1, one of the most desirable variations of the iconic WWII-era U.S. Army service pistol. Produced between 1942 and 1943, Remington Rand manufactured approximately 877,751 of these pistols, making them the largest producer of M1911A1s during the war. Unlike their typewriter business, Remington Rand’s firearms were known for their quality, and their pistols are highly regarded for their wartime fit and finish.
The M1911A1 served as the standard U.S. military sidearm through WWII and beyond, proving its reliability and durability in combat. This example remains in Very Good condition, showing appropriate service wear but retaining a solid bore and strong mechanics. The included U.S. holster adds to its authenticity and collector appeal.
For collectors of WWII militaria, U.S. military pistols, or fans of the legendary 1911 platform, this Remington Rand M1911A1 represents a fine opportunity to own a piece of history. Whether as a shooter, display piece, or investment, it remains a prized firearm among enthusiasts.-C.M.
