Markings: The bottom of the barrel is marked “SH29752 CAL. 45-70 CAT. .10650”. The top of the barrel is marked “A. UBERTI-ITALY STOEGER-ACCOKEEK,MD”. The receiver is stamped with several proofs including the illegible date code. The right side of the receiver is marked “SHARPS’ PAT. OCT 5TH 1852”.
Barrel Length: 34” Heavy Octagon Barrel. The rifle weighs 13lbs 8 OZ.
Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a Globe front sight with a simple post insert and a spirit level. The rear sight dovetail has been filled with a second spirit level. This rifle also includes a tang mounted Pedersoli Soule Sight that is fully windage adjustable, with a long range staff, and Hadley style multi aperture eye disc.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two piece checkered walnut. The buttstock is a checkered straight hand grip, straight comb and has a color case, smooth metal buttplate and patchbox. The forend is a checkered, tapered forend with a Hartford Tip. The LOP measures 14? from the front trigger to the back of the buttplate. The wood shows scattered light lines and compressions with a notable rub wear patch underneath the patch box, a patch of rub wear on the belly near the toe, and the marks from the eye disc of the comb. There are no visible chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. Overall The furniture rates in about Very Good+ to Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel is blued and the receiver, lever, and hammer, patchbox, and buttplate are color cased.
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. There is some very minor fouling present on the edges of the grooves. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The muzzle and edges of the muzzle show some finish loss, there is some glue from tape stuck to the barrel, the barrel shows some minor scattered nicks, the buttplate also has some minor scattered nicks. The action shows some minor rub wear on the friction surfaces. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear with the exception of the date code. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good + to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: This rifle has double set triggers, which function correctly. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
