Markings: The top of the receiver is marked, “MADE IN AUSTRIA” with the rest being covered by the scope mount. The right side is marked, “42855”. The left side is marked, “STEYR – DAIMLER – PUCH A/G., STEYR”. The barrel is marked with the serial number and, “ON M3170 StLf3”. There are various small proofs throughout. There is a Stoeger import mark on the floorplate.

Barrel Length: 20”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post dovetailed to a raised knurled base. The rear sight is a two position flip-up V-notch dovetailed to a barrel mounted base. There is a scope mount set tapped to the receiver fitted with a Leupold Vari-X-III 2.5×8 Riflescope with Duplex Crosshair Reticle. The sight picture is clear. The glass is free of any notable scratches. There is some light handling wear. Overall, the scope rates in Fine condition.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a single piece checkered walnut full length Mannlicher stock with a steel forend cap, sling bar, capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb w/ cheekpiece in the Monte-Carlo style, sling loop, and serrated plastic buttplate. There are some minor scratches and pressure dents, but nothing obtrusive. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures approximately 14 5/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock rates in at about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright and the rifling is sharp. There is faint erosion in the bore and no pitting.  In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is minor action wear. There are some small handling marks throughout. The screw heads are lightly tooled, the markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good to Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. This rifle features double set triggers.
