Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade sight, in keeping with traditional English fowlers.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle features a stunning maple stock, shaped in classic English Fowler fashion, with elegant, flowing lines, and a graceful wrist. The wood has a high-quality finish, with one small half-inch scratch on the left side of the buttstock but no cracks or significant blemishes. The 14-inch length of pull (LOP) is well-suited for traditional shooting stances. The stock rates in Excellent overall condition.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and smooth, showing little to no signs of use. 10/10 bore rating in this writer’s opinion.
Overall Condition: This rifle is in 99% Excellent condition, with minimal handling marks and exceptional craftsmanship throughout. The one small scratch on the stock does not detract from its beauty. The brass and steel components are finely finished.
The rifle is equipped with an L&R large round-faced flintlock, providing historically accurate styling with smooth and reliable function. A flint is installed, and the lock functions crisply. The flintlock mechanism operates correctly, with a smooth, quick ignition. The hammer, frizzen, and pan engage properly.
The rifle features brass fixtures, including the trigger guard, ramrod thimbles, and buttplate, all of which contrast beautifully with the white-finished barrel. The brass has a warm patina, further enhancing the rifle’s period-accurate aesthetics.
Mechanics: The flintlock mechanism operates correctly, with a smooth trigger. The hammer, frizzen, and pan engage properly, ensuring reliable ignition. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used black powder firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
