Our Assessment: The Luger P08 is one of the most iconic military pistols of all time, renowned for its precision craftsmanship and distinctive toggle-lock action. This particular example, manufactured by Mauser in 1937, is an excellent representation of the late pre-WW2 military Lugers. With its “S/42” code and 1937 chamber date, it was produced during Germany’s rearmament period and saw likely use with the Wehrmacht before and during the early years of World War II.
The pistol retains much of its original finish and military markings, making it a desirable collector’s piece. The bore is in excellent condition, and its mechanical function remains strong, reflecting Mauser’s renowned quality. The checkered walnut grips remain in very good shape, adding to the authenticity and appeal of this pre-war Luger.
For collectors, this Mauser-made 1937 Luger is a great acquisition, whether as part of a historical collection or as an example of early WWII German small arms production. Please see our high-quality photos and good luck on your bid! -M.C.
