Our Assessment: The Norwegian Krag Model 1912/16 is an updated version of the Krag-Jørgensen rifle designed for the Norwegian military. This model is a modification of the shorter M1912 carbine, with a slightly extended stock and minor updates. Chambered in 6.5x55mm, it was one of the most accurate and versatile cartridges of its time, still respected by hunters and long-range shooters today.
The Krag-Jørgensen design is renowned for its smooth bolt operation and unique side-loading magazine, allowing rounds to be loaded without opening the action completely. While the Norwegian Krag is sometimes overshadowed by its American counterpart, these rifles have a well-earned reputation for quality craftsmanship and reliability.
This particular example, manufactured in 1920, remains in solid condition with a bright bore and fully functional action. It would make an excellent addition to a military rifle collection, especially for those interested in Scandinavian firearms history.
