Our Assessment: The Webley Mk I was one of the first top-break, self-extracting revolvers adopted for military service by the British Army. Originally chambered in .476 Enfield, many of these revolvers were later converted to fire .45 ACP with moon clips or .45 Auto Rim for civilian and law enforcement use. This example, manufactured by P. Webley & Son in Birmingham, retains clear markings and a functioning action, making it a desirable piece for collectors of British military and converted service firearms.

These revolvers saw extensive use across British colonies and in conflicts like the Second Anglo-Afghan War and the Boer War. When surplus examples reached the U.S., many were modified to fire the more readily available .45 ACP cartridge, making them more practical for American shooters. The top-break design allowed for faster reloading compared to contemporary solid-frame revolvers, giving it a tactical advantage.

Whether you are a Webley enthusiast, a British military collector, or someone who appreciates early revolver technology, this Mk I will make a fine addition to any collection. Its antique status means it can be owned without federal restrictions in most areas, making it all the more appealing to collectors.-Please see our high quality photos and good luck with your bids.-C.M.
