Markings: The right side of the frame is marked “GOVERNMENT MODEL C232800”,. The right side of the slide is marked “REPUBLICA ARGENTINA ARMADA NACIONAL / COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE 45”. The left side of the slide is marked COLT MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” On the top of the slide there is an Argentine Crest.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are a 2 piece checkered polymer. The grips have light notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Blued
Finish Originality: Arsenal refinished
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 90% of its metal finish. The finish is generally strong throughout. There are a few other scattered minor marks. The Finish is thinning around the muzzle. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are mostly clear. Overall, this pistol is in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger pull is crisp. This pistol has manual and grip safeties. Typical of the Government model pistols. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: One unmarked 1911 magazine in Fine condition. One leather holster and one soft carry case.
Our Assessment: The 1911 and 1911-A1 pistols served the military of the United States from 1911 to 1985, through two World Wars and the Korean and Vietnam wars. They gained a reputation as a reliable handgun with plenty of stopping power, and are held in high regard by those who have used them. This example is a particularly interesting specimen, a Government Model that was sold to the Argentine Naval Commission.
