Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “STURM, RUGER & CO., INC. / SOUTHPORT, CONN. U.S.A.”, the left side of the frame is marked “RUGER BLACKHAWK / .41 MAGNUM CAL.” with the company logo, the right is marked with the serial number. The grip frame is beautifully engraved with scroll and floriated patterns against a pebbled background, please see our pictures of this beautiful revolver!

Barrel Length: 4 5/8”, with two Magna-ports on the upper shoulders.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramp blade, integral to a base that is fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a flat top, square notched leaf in a base that is adjustable for windage and elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are beautifully checkered dark hardwood stocks with white diamond-shaped inserts. The left panel has a very thin repaired crack at the butt, the right panel has some marks on the butt and a ding on the edge at the frame; both panels have a slight gap in fit to the grip frame but look great overall. The grips rate in about Fine overall condition has having a repair on the left panel.

Type of Finish: The barrel, cylinder and frame are polished blue, the hammer and trigger are jeweled, the alloy grip frame is matte black. The cylinder and release pin appear to be gold plated.

Finish Originality: The blued components are original, the other items were re-finished after modification.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance is shown as a few light scuff marks on the barrel and frame; the front sight and its base have a few dings, please see our pictures. The grip frame has some off-white accumulations that we could not remove. The cylinder has a faint hint towards a drag line that has not penetrated the finish. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder produces light to moderate play in all 6 chambers during full lockup; the side to side play is about 1/16”, there is no measurable back play. The hammer cocks back with a strong spring and the trigger is crisp. The pistol does not have a transfer bar modification. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a non-serialized but period correct factory box that shows a few spots of edge roughing, a tear in the lower tray portion at the front left corner and some punctures; the box has “BLACKHAWK .41 MAG / BLUE 4 5/8BBL / #40-11536 / CUSTOMIZED” written in black ink; the box has clear tape stuck to it. The box is in Very Good condition. Also included is a yellow shipping sticker from the factory, along with a shipping instruction print out and registration card; the registration card has permanent folds and is slightly torn on the perforated line, the other items are in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: This is one beautifully customized Ruger Old Model Blackhawk in .41 Magnum! The barrel has two Magna-ports on the upper shoulders, the cylinder pin and button have been gold plated, the hammer and trigger were jeweled; the grip frame was elegantly engraved with floral and scroll patterns, against a pebbled background. The grips are beautifully checkered dark hardwood with white diamond-shaped inserts. We contacted Ruger to see if they had any evidence of the engraving having been done in the factory but to no avail; there are no signatures present to tell us who engraved or customized the pistol but the job was done very well. Included is a period correct factory cardboard box and some paperwork. If you’re looking for a custom Blackhawk, this one turned enough heads in our shop to make the winning bidder the envy of the internet. Please see our pictures and good luck.
