Make: German. From the stampings on the bottom metal, we believe this to be an Argentinean Contract Mauser made by Deutsche Waffen Munitionsfabriken (DWM) located in Berlin Germany.

Markings: There is no visible import mark. The left side of the barrel is marked “30-06” and the right side is marked “K193403”. The right side of the barrel (no letter prefix) and right side of the receiver are marked with the serial number. The bottom metal is marked with the serial number and with an Argentinean stamping. The bottom metal screws are marked with “asterisks”. The lettered serial number, “asterisks” and distinct stamping are indicative of an Argentinean Mauser. The recoil pad is marked Pachmayr”. The bolt and magazine follower are jeweled.
The right side of the scope base is marked with the Redfield Logo “R in crosshairs”. There is a riser for the rear portion of the scope base stored in the grip. One side is marked “R” and the other is marked “BUEHLER / 607 VERNON ST. / OAKLAND, CAL.”. The left side of the scope is marked “LEUPOLD”. The front of the scope is marked “M8 6X” three times around the tube. The rear is marked with patent information around the tube.
Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade atop a raised base that is finely checkered to reduce glare. There is a flip up front sight hood attached to the base. The top of the hood is finely checkered. The rear sight is a flip up “V” notched dual blade assembly that is dovetail set in to the ventilated rib on the barrel. One blade folds forward and the other blade folds to the rear. The rear face of each blade is finely serrated to reduce glare.
The 6 power scope uses thin crosshairs overlaid with a German post reticle. The glass appears clear and the target knobs turn. The front left of the tube is scratched. The adjustment knob covers are scraped. The tube shows other light marks. The scope is in about Fine condition. The rings and scope base have been refinished to match the rifle. Imperfections on the metal show through the new finish. One of the scope ring screws shows use. The left side of the base shows a small area of thinning. The rings and scope base are in about Fine condition as refinished. A riser for the rear of the scope base is stored in the grip. It shows light marks and its screw shows thinning. It is in about Very Good to Fine condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The custom, gloss finished hardwood stock has a pistol grip, cutout for the bolt handle, raised cheek piece, raised wood below the bolt release, two through bolts, decorative checkering on the grip & forearm, two quick detach sling swivels, a rubber recoil pad, decorative metal insert under the forearm, a flip up peep sight (to the rear of the receiver tang), metal grip cap with hinged door for storage and a storage compartment under the buttstock with a metal hinged door. The flip up peep sight sits flush on top of the grip. It is for use when the scope is removed. The storage compartment in the grip is approximately 2 inches deep. The storage compartment under the buttstock has an insert that holds 5 .30-06 cartridges. The top of the cheek piece is dark colored wood that shows two small chips. The right side of the buttstock shows a long, but light, scrape. The wood shows a few minor marks that have been finished over. The stock shows various other light handling marks. The LOP measures 13 3/4 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep. There is no erosion. The bore shows an M.E. of 0.5.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish, as refinished. The metal has been refinished and some small imperfections on the metal show through the new finish. The font sight and hood shows some thinning and small scrapes. The metal shows a few other light marks. The screw heads are intact. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good to Fine condition as refinished. The rifle action has issues (see Mechanics section below). It would rate higher if the issues were fixed.
Mechanics: The safety is stuck in the “Fire” position. The lever is not stuck, something else is not aligning. When the bolt is removed from the rifle and manipulated, the safety lever can be flipped to the “Safe” position. The action functions intermittently. The rifle will fire if the bolt is opened, the trigger is pushed forward and the bolt is then closed. Have a competent Gunsmith remedy these issues prior to loading or firing this rifle. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork& Accessories: The rifle comes with a scope, scope rings and with a scope base & riser; see above. The rifle also comes with an unmarked braided leather sling that shows a little use. It is in about Fine condition.
Our Assessment: This is a beautiful custom Mauser that is built on a strong German Mauser receiver. The .30-06 barrel is a half octagon with a ventilated rib on the octagon. It has flip up rear sights, a flip up front sight hood and a flip up peep sight that is stored flush on top of the grip. The custom stock has a storage compartment for 5 .30-6 rounds in the buttstock and a storage compartment in the grip. This is a great rifle that normally would rate in about Excellent condition, but the trigger and safety have issues (see Mechanics section above). The issues may be a quick fix for a competent gunsmith.
