Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UT” and “MADE IN JAPAN/MIRUKO”. The right side of the barrel is marked “SA-22 CALIBER .22 LONG RIFLE” and “BROWNING PATENTS”. The right side of the receiver is marked “07134PR646”.

Barrel Length: 19 ¼”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blue brass beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel and the rear sight is a flip-up square notched leaf with a white triangular mark, adjustable for elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece checkered stocks show very little evidence of use. There is a small nick on the butt of the pistol grip. The forend checkering exhibits no evidence of use. The LOP measures 13 5/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the plastic shotgun style buttplate, which shows no perceivable evidence of use and is in Excellent condition. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition. Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: All original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows almost no signs of handling. There is a light mark on the underside of the slide. There are two extremely faint pinprick marks on the top of the barrel between the markings. The rifle possesses grade VI wood, finishing and engraving. A scroll design surrounding a tableau featuring a gold inlay dog chasing a gold inlay rabbit adorns the left side of the receiver and a scroll design surrounding a gold inlay coyote and squirrel are visible on the right side. The top of the receiver sports a gold inlay dog’s head encompassed by a scroll design and the bottom of the trigger guard displays a gold inlay Browning logo. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This rifle loads through the butt plate and has the ejection port located on the bottom of the receiver. There is a hole in the right side of the butt which allows partial loading of the magazine tube, which holds 10 rounds of .22 Long Rifle and 16 rounds of .22 Short. The rifle lies in two parts in the Case. The barrel is screwed into the receiver and a locking component engaged for assembly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms,a thorough cleaning may be required to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in a leather bound browning hard case. The case has a few light scuffs. Inside the case is a small owner’s manual and two keys.

Our Assessment: The Browning SA-22 has been in production since 1956, manufactured by FN in Belgium until 1976. Production was turned over to Miroku in Japan, which produces the rifle today. This is a Miroku manufactured 2013 Grade VI model with lovely engraving and gold plated outdoor scenes. This rifle exhibits virtually no evidence of use, is in Excellent condition and is in a Browning case accompanied by the original paperwork. This is a beautiful, collector’s grade Browning SA-22.
