Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “CUSTOM / SHOP / Kimber”, the right side is marked “CUSTOM CDP II”. The right side of the frame is marked “KIMBER MFG / K216591 / YONKERS NY USA”. Both sides of the grips are marked “Crimson Trace”. The top of the barrel is marked “45 ACP”. The left sides of the sights are marked “MH3” The bottom of the magazine and bushing tool are marked “Kimber”. The factory box is serialized to this pistol.

Sights / Optics: The pistol has a three dot Meprolight Tritium night sight configuration; the front sight is a black blade on a base that is dovetailed onto the slide. The rear sight is a square notched base with a serrated face that is dovetailed onto the slide and fixed with a set screw.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The installed grips are Crimson Trace brand wrap around grip panels with a protruding soft rubber finger bump on the front strap; the flanks are checkered hard plastic with ambidextrous laser activation buttons. There is an on / off switch on the left panel. The grips only have light handling marks and rate in about Excellent condition. The grips expose the backstrap which is finely checkered. The front strap and underside of the trigger guard have 30 line-per-inch checkering. Also included is a set of ‘double diamond’ checkered rosewood grip panels that only display minor marks on the smooth diamond portions. The back of the left panel has a long “K” scratched into it as photographed. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Factory Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. This pistol looks to have been shot very seldom, if at all (outside of factory testing).

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. This pistol looks to have been handled and shot very seldom, if at all and displays only very light scuff and storage marks. There is light wear on some of the interacting metal surfaces, with a little bit of finish loss on the frame below the slide stop. The right side of the ambidextrous safety was shortened to accommodate the Crimson Trace grips; there are some angular grind marks on the end of the remaining portion of the safety from this modification. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This pistol has the following mechanical features: Ambidextrous laser buttons & safety, beavertail grip safety, adjustable skeletonized trigger, skeletonized hammer and full length guide rod. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: One factory 7 round magazine, one set of rosewood grips, one bushing tool, factory paperwork and marketing inserts are provided as photographed, all rating in about Excellent condition with light wear. The factory box is serialized to this pistol and comes with foam inserts, displaying light storage scuffs and scratches, rating in about Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: From Kimber’s website: “CDP pistols have it all. Night sights, ambidextrous thumb safety and 30-lines-per-inch checkering on the front strap and under the trigger guard. Match grade barrel, stainless steel slide and double diamond rosewood grips. They even have a 7075-T7 aluminum frame with KimPro II finish and Carry melt treatment for rounded and blended edges that will not snag. Five .45 ACP models weighing just 25 to 31 ounces are offered. The Ultra CDP II with a 3-inch barrel is available in 9 mm as well. Kimber makes the finest 1911 pistols manufactured today, and nowhere is quality more important than in a pistol carried for personal defense.” This pistol looks to have been shot seldom and taken well care of in the interim. There are only light scuffs and wear marks from takedown and use. Kimber has an extraordinary track record and a very helpful customer service branch. This pistol has Crimson Trace grips and ambidextrous features making it perfect for self defense.
