Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number, “RUGER CARBINE / .44 MAGNUM CAL” and the Ruger “circled eagle” logo. The top of the barrel is marked with a “Warning”, “STURM, RUGER & CO., INC. / SOUTHPORT, CONN. U.S.A.” and with a circled “P R” proof. The P and R are back to back and next to the receiver. The left side of the rear sight is marked “R”.

Barrel Length: Approximately 18 ½ Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded blade atop a raised base. The rear sight is an elevation adjustable, flip up, “U” notched blade. It is marked with a “white diamond” and hash marks. The top of the receiver and top of the barrel shank each have two holes that are drilled tapped and filled with screws.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The wood stock has a pistol grip, a metal barrel band and a hard plastic buttplate. The wood shows a few light marks. The LOP measures 13 1/2 from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The front sight band shows light scrapes and a few small light scratches. The top of the receiver shows a few small light scrapes. The small screw heads on the top of the receiver show use. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork& Accessories: The rifle comes with its original manual and in its original cardboard box. Both are marked “RUGER” and with the Ruger logo. The box has the rifles serial number marked on it in pencil. The manual shows some discoloration and is in about Fine condition. The box has no inserts. I has tape on it, shows scrapes and shows discoloration. It is in about Very Good Plus condition.

Our Assessment: This Ruger Model 44 Carbine is in Excellent condition. It has been taken care of and has a great bore. It has great looking wood and a nice deep blue finish. It loads like a shotgun. It takes 4 in the tube and one in the chamber. As far as we can tell 5 rounds of .44 Magnum should handle any problems you may find while on the range. This Model 44 Carbine will make its new owner proud.
