Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a white bead and black metal backing that is screwed into the vented, finely checkered rib which rises about 0.20” above the barrel set and tapers from 0.40” at the breech, tapering to 0.214” at the muzzle. There is a second, smaller steel bead 16-7/8” from the muzzle. As shouldered, the shotgun has an instant sight alignment, in conjunction with the comb mounted leather cheek piece.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The walnut stock set has checkering on the flanks of the forend and pistol grip. The forend has a Schnabel tip and displays light scuffs throughout; there are some heavier compression marks on the underside, with some mild scuffing in the checkers. The butt stock has a swooping pistol grip and pinched strait comb, fit with an ambidextrous leather over-comb cheek piece. A modification was made on the right side at the comb pinch, broadening the factory indentation with a shallow ‘wave’ of wood removed to increase the grip for a right handed shooter; this portion was varnished with pooling evident on the outer borders. The stock has scuffs and scratches, to include small nicks at the butt of the grip and on the belly. The stock is cast-neutral, the drop at comb is 1-3/8”, drop at heel is 2-1/8”, the forward portion of the leather cheek piece drops 1-3/8”, on line with the drop at comb, the aft portion drops 1-7/16” from the rib line. The LOP measures 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the KICK-EEZ brand shotgun-style recoil pad as it sits; the trigger is on a 0.875” slotted rail that allows the trigger to be moved fore to aft and is secured with a set screw. The pad has light marks and rates in about Fine condition. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition given the modified butt stock.
Type of Finish: Parkerized barrel set, black frame, gold-colored trigger.
Finish Originality: Factory Original
Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is some light carbon buildup and small scuff marks, there is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 93% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows finish loss from assembly, disassembly and operation as photographed. The barrel set has scuff marks resulting in some lost finish just in front of the chambers and there is a tool mark next to the smaller bead mounted on the rib. The frame and trigger guard have thinning on some edge sections. The screw heads are sharp but for a retaining screw that is marred on the trigger guard plate. The markings are crisp but for the double stamped “BB” date code. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine condition; it would rate higher but for the modified portion of the butt stock.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes with a brown leather takedown case that is faux-fur lined and only has light storage marks, rating in Excellent condition. Also included are 4 chokes (2 in the shotgun), described above in the Choke section. A clear plastic bag, Beretta tassel and three bits of factory paperwork are also included with light wear. There are four silver and two gold colored keys included; the silver keys are for the middle case lock, the gold for the outer locks.
Our Assessment: If you’re going to name a shotgun after sporting clays, you’re going to have to create a supremely balanced, ergonomic and adjustable system for specific shooting needs. This shotgun gives point of aim sighting an an almost instantaneous fashion, features an adjustable trigger and comb mounted leather cheek piece. The 28” barrel set is vented, with a tapered, vented rib, removable chokes (4 provided) are easily threaded into the set, giving plenty of solutions to your sporting experience. The wood has nicks, scratches and some infrequent moderate depth compressions. The right side of the comb was widened and deepened, the wood varnished, leaving a built rim of residue. The shotgun would rate in Excellent condition but for this modification as roughly 93% of the finish remains and the bores are bright with light scuffs near the chambers. The shotgun disassembles with mechanical precision, and stores nicely in the leather bound hard case with faux-fur lining. Please take some time to view our photographs, this rifle functions just as nice as it looks!
