Markings: The top of the receiver has an American Eagle over “1993”. The left side of the frame is marked “6307”, the right side is import marked “SPM INC. HOUSTON, TX U.S.A.” The right side of the slide is marked “MITCHELL ARMS AMERICAN EAGLE / CAL., 9MM LUGER”. The back of the frame has a hand etched “JD”. The factory box is serialized to the pistol.
Barrel Length: 4”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an oblique ramped blade with a serrated face that is dovetailed onto a rise in the barrel. The rear sight is a “V” notch on the rear toggle.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are fully checkered American walnut panels that have a striped grain pattern and excellent color variation. The panels only show very light evidence of handling with portions of the checkering looking as though they were compressed but we believe this to be a natural defect in the fiber of the wood. The wood to metal fit is a bit short in the panels, please see our photographs. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Factory Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is highly defined, there is light wear in the bore. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. There are scuffs and shallow scratches on the metal surfaces, some of which were left over from manufacturing. The left side of the frame has a wear mark from the safety lever and there are small casting flaws in the matte portions of the finish. Portions of the internals were polished down for smoother operation. There is light wear on some metal components from operation. The screw heads are sharp with light tool marks. The markings are sharp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine condition because someone decided to scratch “JD” on the back of the frame.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: One factory magazine with a wood baseplate is included. We were only able to load about 7 rounds into the magazine and it was TOUGH to get the spring down that far. There are only minor scratches present on the magazine and it rates in about Excellent condition. Also included is an owner’s manual, accessory order form, factory marketing pamphlet and the serialized factory box. The box has areas of disruption in the cardboard, with small holes and wear present, please see our photographs. The paperwork has light bends.
Our Assessment: This stainless steel version of the historic P08 is made from investment grade stainless steel casting and has some scuffs and scratches from the factory. There are a few handling marks and wear marks from interaction during operation. This pistol fills a niche for collectors who want to shoot a Luger without worrying about handling erosion or loss of historic value. From Wikipedia: “After World War I, acceptance of the 9×19mm Parabellum chambering increased, and 9×19mm Parabellum pistols and submachine guns were adopted by military and police users in many countries.[14] The 9×19mm Parabellum has become the most popular caliber for U.S. law enforcement agencies, primarily due to the availability of compact pistols with large magazine capacities that use the cartridge.[15] Worldwide, the 9×19mm Parabellum is one of the more popular pistol cartridges where it is legal (some countries ban civilian use of weapons that chamber current or former military service cartridges), and cartridges in this caliber are generally available anywhere pistol ammunition is sold.” The pistol is chambered in 9mm Luger and is available almost anywhere. Unfortunately, the initials “JD” are scratched into the back of the frame, dropping the NRA condition to Fine from Excellent. The magazine has a very tense spring that made loading even 7 rounds a bit of a challenge. We recommend wearing gloves and letting the spring wear in a while.
