Make: IMI (Israeli Military Industries) Action Arms

Model: Galil 332 S

Serial Number: MR 07600

Year of Manufacture: Late 1980’s

Caliber: 7.62/.308

Action Type: Semi-Automatic

RARE TRANSITIONAL MODEL: This is a rare transitional model when Action Arms took over the importing from Magnum Research, which is why the import mark is Action Arms but the serial number prefix is “MR” and not “AA” (MR = Magnum Research) Note that the receiver has a milled out section and Action Arms is stamped inside this area. The reason for the milled out area is that is where the Magnum Research stamp was located.  Transitional Galils are Magnum Research Galils purchased by Action Arms when importation rights were transferred over. They have Magnum Research “MR” prefix serial numbers, but will have Action Arms information engraved on the side (often replaced by milling out where Magnum Research had theirs).
Action Arms was granted Galil-importation rights from Magnum Research in the mid-1980 and would continue importing them until the ban in 1989.

Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked, “MR 07600”, “ACTION ARMS LTD. PHILA. PA.”, “CALIBER 7.62/.308 / MODEL 332 S / IMI-ISRAEL”.  The receiver is marked by the safety selector “S F” on the left side at the top of the pistol grip and “SF” near the safety selector lever on the right side.  The left side of the rear sight is marked, “7600” matching the receiver.  There is a proof mark on the receiver next to the serial number.   The right side of the folding stock base is marked, “H C”.   The right side of the gas block is marked, “HO”.  The rear aperture is marked, “5” on one aperture and “3” on the other. The top cover is marked, “A”.  The right side of the receiver is marked “06” just in front of the charging handle.   The scope mount is marked “2888-8672” with an Israeli Proof.

Barrel Length: 20”. 21” with flash hider.

Sights / Optics:  Hooded adjustable post front sight with flip up night sight and 2-piece L-type flip aperture rear sight with flip up night sight.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The buttstock is a tubular folding stock with rubber buttpad.  The handguard is wood with finger grooves.  The Galil 332 is built on a milled receiver that features a classic AK type safety lever on the right side but also a thumb actuated safety over the top of the pistol grip.  The pistol grip is smooth synthetic with a top cutout for the safety.  At the front of the rifle sits a bipod that folds into the bottom portion of the handguard and can be extended into position or placed back into the handguard by squeezing the two arms together.  The left side of the gas block has a sling bar that compliments the sling bar on the left side of the base of the folding stock.  The Galil 332 features the L shaped superior upswept charging handle on the right side of the receiver that sticks up and protrudes just above the top cover.  Overall the stock is in Excellent Condition. The wood handguards are clean of any scratches or disfigurements.  The Side folding stock is very clean and well maintained with a very strong spring.  There is only a minor and shallow compression mark on the left side of the handguard.  Other than that, this rifle is pristine.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: One Original Unused 25rd Waffle Magazine in Excellent Condition.  It is still in its IMI Box and extremely greasy.  It is unused and preserved from the oil.

Type of Finish: Black

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows no operation wear. The markings are sharp.   There is some finish loss on the front left side of the dust cover likely from storage.   Other than those minor imperfections, this rifle is near perfect.   Overall, this rifle rates in about a Excellent+ condition.  The night sights appear to have lost their strength due to age but restore them and you have some of the coolest night sights on the market.   There is a prominent amount of thick factory grease on the bolt and internal components and based on the condition of the internals and bore, this rifle appears never fired outside of factory and is confirmed by its original owner that it has never been fired.  This is truly a time capsule piece! Please see photos for a better understanding of this rifle’s condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its original IMI factory Galil Box, one factory magazine in its IMI box, Factory Sling, Scope Mount, IMI Accessory & Memorabilia Order Form, Galil Operator’s Manual, 1989 dated ammo catalog, Serialized Warranty Registration Card, Cleaning Kit, NRA membership slip, and flash hider cover.  All accessories are unused and well preserved. There is some light storage wear on the box.

Our Assessment:  Once again ladies and gentlemen we have a piece coming through our shop that stands out far above the rest.  Like really really far.   If this rifle were to magically become a human it would boot even Ryan Renolds off the pedestal of sexiest man of the year.  The Galil is one of the most loved rifles in all of firearms history.  And that’s not an understatement or a title given without reason.  It truly is one of the most remarkable firearms ever devised in the minds of crazy good engineers.  The Israeli Galil was born out of an impossible fight against the onslaught of AK47’s.  After the 6 Day War, Israel captured thousands of Egyptian AK47 rifles and discovered for themselves all the benefits the Kalashnikov rifles provided as durability and maintenance go.  The FN FAL’s they were using were effective but were becoming less effective in the down and dirty conditions warfare had become in the Middle Eastern Deserts. Several designs were offered to the Israeli Defense Force to gain an advantage over the AK47 including the M16, Stoner, rifle design by UZI, the HK33 from Germany, and the Automatic Rifle Machine Gun (ARM) by Yasrael Galil.  I’ll let you guess who won.  The (ARM) Galil was a design taken from the Finnish Valmet RK62 or the civilian M76, also known as the AK47 Perfected and was given a few more designs to make it really the most spankin rifle ever designed.  The Galil was quickly adopted by Israel as their new standard issue rifle and became everyone’s favorite butt kicking machine.  It looks like a dream come true and it feels like a dream come true and for those who have the beautiful privilege of shooting one, they can all testify, it shoots and operates like a dream come true.  A few key features are the tritium flip up night sights, the integral Bipod, the bottle opener Bipod retainers for when you’re thirsty, the Upswept charging handle, thumb safety, and side folding stock among many more glorious internal changes adopted from the Finnish Valmet RK62.  I’ve never wanted a firearm more in my life than this one right here, but hey, I’m just the writer. The Galil 332 is simply the semi-automatic version of the Galil ARM.   Bid on it, claim it, and then love it like every Galil deserves.  Happy Bidding!
