Markings: The water table is marked “C5494”, “MK910”, with Italian proofs, and with a Pedersoli logo. The bottoms of the barrels have Italian proofs, the left flat has a Pedersoli trade mark and “MK 910″, the right flat has “C5494”, “CAL 45-70”, Italian proofs, “BL” in box date code and a Cabela’s import mark. The bottom of the barrel lug is marked “MADE IN ITALY”. The forend iron is marked “910”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated, ramped base screwed to the front of the rib. The rear sight is an Express-style sight with three progressively taller “V”-notches, each with a vertical line aiming reference, marked “100 YDS”, “200 YDS” and “300 YDS”, respectively, in a base dovetailed and screw-set to the rear of the rib.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are checkered walnut with a splinter forend , semi-pistol grip, straight comb with cheekpiece, an orange rubber buttpad and a sling stud in the belly (the barrel set has a stud mounted to the bottom of its rib forward of its forend). The stocks have scattered light nicks, scuffs and scratches. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 15 1/8″ and 14 1/8″ from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the buttpad. The pad has light wear and discoloration. Overall, the stocks are in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are mostly bright with sharp rifling. There some few spots of stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bores rate 8 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are some scattered light nicks, scuffs and thin scratches, mostly on the barrels. There is minor wear on the barrels from the forend, concealed when assembled. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions properly. The barrel set locks up with no play to the receiver. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a beautiful double rifle from Pedersoli. The name Kodiak is appropriate as the .45-70 Gov’t rifle barrels would be suitable for hunting bear, and with full loads, it’s gonna be a bear to shoot! The gun has classic styling with a case color finish on its external hammer action, browned barrels and attractive walnut stocks. The gun is in Fine condition, showing signs of light use. It’s beautiful styling and great condition will make for a great gun for hunting or to add to a collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
