Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few scattered minor marks, most notable in the backstrap. There is some light wear on the grip frame that is covered by the grips when installed. The action shows faint operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, the revolver is in Fine-Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The lockup produces almost no play on all six chambers. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: Everyone should have a Colt Single Action Army, and this would be a nice one to add to any collection. Manufactured in 1979, this revolver is chambered in the classic .45 Colt cartridge. The 5 1/2″ barrel is a nice balance between the increased sight radius of the 7 1/2″ and the fast handling of the 4 3/4″ barrels. The gun is in Fine-Excellent condition, appearing to have seen quite limited use and gentle handling. This is THE classic sixgun in the classic SAA cartridge that would be just as great for the collector as for the shooter. Please see our photos and good luck!
