Markings: The right and left side of the receiver is marked “P.BERETTA GARDONE V.T.”. The trigger plate is marked “BL-4”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “MADE IN ITALY P. BERETTA”. The receiver cuts are marked “CAL .20” and “M00501”. The receiver floor is marked with several proofs. The buttpad is marked with a Beretta Trident logo. The forend iron is marked “M00501”. The left side of the upper barrel is marked “HIGH STRENGTH CHROMIUM MOLYBDENUM STEEL-SS- 28 GA. 2 ¾ IN -28 INCHES F/M”. The left side of the barrel set under the forend is marked “CAM. 70 14.2F / KGI.160 M/ 14.2”. The bottom of the barrel set is marked “G4” and “PB FINITO XXVI S.56E PSF M00501 / MADE IN ITALY” and a series of proofs. The right side of the upper barrel is marked “P. BERETTA-GARDONE V.T. / MADE IN ITALY GARCIA SPORTING ARMS CORP., TEANECK, N.J.”. All sides of the receiver are beautifully engraved with floral engraving.
Barrel Length: 28” Barrels with a low vented rib that has been serrated for glare reduction.
Choke: This shotgun uses fixed choke barrels. The barrels are marked Full over Modified and the paperwork says full over modified as well. However according to our choke gauge the barrels are Modified over Cylinder.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a fixed silver bead mounted to the rib. There is also a silver mid-bead.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a two-piece checkered select walnut with a slab side forend, and the stock is a capped pistol grip, fluted straight comb stock with Beretta plastic buttpad. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14? from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The forend wood shows almost no wear and the stock wood has a few small scattered lines, in the checkering. Overall the Stock and Forend are in Very Good to Excellent Condition for C&R given their age.
Type of Finish: Blued.
Finish Originality: Original.
Bore Condition: The smooth bores are bright. There is no erosion in the bores. The barrels have some fouling lines in the forcing cones. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 8/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains approximately 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some surface rust scattered throughout the barrel set and rib, there is also rub wear from the forend. There is also some surface rust on the receiver and the forend iron. The pistol grip cap’s finish has begun to patina. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Very Good condition for C&R given its age.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including the ejectors. The action locks up tight with no play. The safety/selector does automatically reset and functions properly when set manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
